Terry's use of "transition" suggests a bridge from one state to another. At 57 I've experienced many of these transitions. Paradoxically we become like adults to our elderly parents as they become increasingly childlike and helpless. Because of that frailty in old age, we become more spiritual. Thanks to Terry for her excellent encapsulation of all the transitions we experience in middle age!
